Emmanuel
God With Us - Matthew 1:23
History
In October of 1992, during the Oklahoma State Council held in Okmulgee, Oklahoma approval was granted by the Executive Board of the Oklahoma State Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc., to open the doors of Emmanuel Tabernacle. The church was named by inspiration of the Lord from Bishop Goldsmith's first message entitled ”God With Us”, Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, “God With Us.” Matthew 1:23. Emmanuel's first service was the first Sunday following Easter Sunday in 1993 and was held in the home of Pastor and Founder Bishop Jeffery D. Goldsmith. Those in attendance were his wife and six children.
Inaugural service was in a storefront located at 8801 North Western Avenue on Thursday, May 20th, 1993 with Diocesan Bishop, Bishop Vanuel C. Little, Sr., officiating. In four years Emmanuel outgrew its first home located at 880l North Western Avenue. In February of 1996, Emmanuel relocated to 8200 North Classen Boulevard, occupying two (2) Suites and quickly adding an additional one. After three years, Emmanuel outgrew that facility. Pastor Goldsmith was faced with a desperate need to relocate to a larger facility.
In 2000, everything came into fruition. The Lord had given us His favor and favor withDr. Tharon Daniels, Superintendent of the Northwest District Church of the Nazarenes. On May 20, 2000, Bishop Vanuel C. Little, Sr., was asked to dedicate the New Church, and the surrounding property. In 2007, Dr. Goldsmith imparted to the church the God-Given vision to pay the off the mortgage of Emmauel Tabernacle. This would be a One year campaign. The Motto for this vision was “Yes, We Can” Nehemiah 4:6 On Friday, May 16, 2008, Bishop Michael D. Hannah, officiated the Mortgage Burning Ceremony. The Vision had been realized. To God Be The Glory!
